Generally senior heroes introduce their sons through their own banners with heavy budget and emphasis on making the hero look larger than life. But the third generation of Akkineni family, Nagarjuna’s son Chaitanya, is being introduced through some other banner. Chaitanya is being introduced by Dil Raju a producer famous for giving importance to the subject rather than presenting than presenting a hero. Nagarjuna on the other hand is known to a practical person. So what then is the reason behind this step?
 
Let’s see what Nagarjuna had to say on his son’s debut:

What is the reason behind your son being presented through some other banner?
 
The first step I took is to introduce Chaitanya as a hero. Before taking the second step of how and when to introduce, many producers approached me to introduce him, but I always told them let’s see. After hearing many offers I was stuck at one offer which was by Dil Raju. I heard that he is very interested and later we had mutual talks.
 
Any particular reason for accepting Dil Raju’s offer?
 
The reason is very obvious - the confidence on Dil Raju’s film making. He can handle a movie very well in the aspects of production, releasing and promotion as well.
 
You never did a movie with Dil Raju, then how can you have so much confidence on his film making?
 
It’s not really necessary to make a film with a producer to estimate his capacity. We can easily understand his caliber from his previous films and his interviews as well. Dil Raju has a perfect idea on film making. His movies have a certain standard. That is the reason I accepted his offer without any second thought.
 
Did you accept the offer immediately or after listening to the subject?
 
After listening to the subject, because subject is the first hero of any movie. If an efficient person brings an efficient story there is no chance for second thought.
 
Do you think Dil Raju is a better producer than you to introduce Chaitanya?
 
I think Dil Raju is the better producer in the present situation. Right now I’m very busy with my movies, studio and other businesses so I can’t concentrate so much on Chaitanya’s film.
 
There should be an experienced director for the debut film but it’s the first film for Vasu Varma too!
 
No problem…Dil Raju will take care of that. Vasu Varma has a good talent like Arya Sukumar and Bommarillu Bhaskar.
 
Dil Raju gives preference to the subject more than the hero. Is it correct to introduce a star’s son with a soft story?
 
It’s absolutely correct. Though he is a star or star’s son, a good subject is more important. If we can present a good subject, automatically that hero also will be well presented. Then he can also be a part of success. Even I didn’t prefer introducing Chaitanya with a heavy subject and massy look. But I don’t say this movie is less in presentation values. Just wait and see.
 
Did you see the rushes of the movie? How is Chaitanya’s performance?
 
He is very handsome and performing well. I’m very happy. I can’t say much at this point of time.
 
What are his next projects?
 
His second movie should be announced by this time but it is not yet finalized.
 
Are you the decision maker when it comes to him choosing films?
 
No…No...He should decide his movies himself. I can only help him with small suggestions. He should run his race on his own. My father also left me the same way when I entered the industry. This generation is much faster than ours so he must come out with his own decisions.
 
The present generation heroes are doing only one or one and a half movies in a year. How many will Chaitanya do?
 
He should do as many as possible. I think he should do at least three movies in a year. When somebody takes up acting as a profession they shouldn’t take a back step or remain idle. I can’t do so many now because I’m not getting good subjects which suit my age and image but he doesn’t have such problems. He should work hard in this age. So I hope he will make things move fast.
 
When can we expect a movie with both of you in it?
 
I don’t have any such opinion now… until and unless I get an outstanding subject…
