The recent acid attack on Aarti, a 22-year-old girl, at Goregaon Station has attracted national attention. The shocking video footage of the acid attack made rounds onthe web. The victim suffered severe injury on her face, chest and forearms.
 
Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested four person in connection with the case. Nasir Shaikh and his mother Manju Anwar Ali Shaikh has hired two men to attack the girl. The mother-son duo has reportedly paid Rs 40,000 to disfigure Aarti and promised to give the remaining amount after completing the mission.

As per the police sources, the mother-son has lent Rs 10 lakhs to Aarti's father long back. But Aarti's father was not returning the money. Adding to this, Nasir Shaikh loved Aarti and wants to marry her, but she was not interested. These were the two reasons that prompted them to choose violent path.

However, this is not the first time the accused has attacked Arthi. She was attacked twice with knife in November and December last year.

Arthi works as a telephone operator in a private company in Goregaon. The attack happened while she was going to collect the ticket from the ticket-punching machine.
