Music Maestro, double Oscar winner A.R.Rahman is celebrating his 46th birthday today. He was born on 6th January, 1966 in Chennai. A.R.Rahman's father R.K.Sekhar is a famous music composer for Kollywood and Mollywood films. In the early age, Rahman used to assist his father in tuning music and playing keyboard which induced passion for music in him. At an age of 9, Rahman accidentally played a tune on piano which was later developed by R.K.Sekhar into a song "Vellithen Kinnam Pol" for Mollywood film Penpada. He lost his father at an age of 9. Named as Dilip when he was born, he started practising Islam after recovering from serious illness getting treatment near a Dargah. From then on he became popular as Allah Rakha Rahman. He was raised by his mother Kareema who encouraged him towards music. Rahman began his training under music master Dhanraj. He debuted in film industry as a music director with the film "Roja" which turned out to be a blockbuster hit fetching him star image. With out seeing back, A.R.Rahman scored music for various magnum opus film like Lagaan, Minsara Kanavu, Kannathil Muthamittal, Bombay, Gentleman, Rangeela, Dil Se, Taal, Slum Dog Millionaire and many more.
