How did you learn acting? Did you go to any acting school?

I did not go to any acting school nor learn any acting. Mr. Sekhar Kammula only taught me everything while shooting ‘Happy Days’ movie. He said- do not try to act but just behave the character naturally. I would like to thank Mr. Sekhar Kammula for giving me an opportunity in his movie ‘Happy Days’.

Do you have any acting background for coming into this line or was it your self-interest?

Self Interest. This is only my self Interest. From childhood I have seen my grandfather Jeedigunta Sriramachandra Murthy who was an artist in All India Radio and also a writer, my uncle Jeedigunta Sridhar acts in TV serials. I guess that is the background for my acting line.

What is the most difficult thing that you have come across in your acting career?

In ‘Happy Days’ movie, the 1st scene that I faced was a shot where seniors will be ragging the freshers. I felt very difficult as I was tensed looking at the camera. Then Mr. Sekhar Kammula told me not to worry and be natural to the character. I would like to thank him for being very nice and making me comfortable in the character.

Do you have your own style of acting or is their any other artist’s influence on you?

I do have my own style. In Kothabangaru Lokam movie, there is a scene of walking on Godavari banks where I had to show 4 different variations to Mr. Srikanth Addala, who is the director of the movie.

What would you like to improve in your acting style?

Sekhar Kammula told me in the beginnings that do not try to act. Involve your self in the character and behave like the character. I try to follow that every time.

How was your experience while working with senior artists?

In Happy days all were relatively new artists. But in Kothabangaru Lokam I felt very excited, not only working with senior artists like Jayasudha garu, Prakash Raj garu and Bramhanandam garu but also with cameraman Mr. Chota K Naidu who is the cameraman for several Chiranjeevi garu’s films. Dil Raju garu is a very good filmmaker. Srikanth Addala was assistant director for hit movies like Arya and Bommarilu. This was an exciting project with seniors in various departments.

Since your parents live in US, did you miss them here at initial stages of your career?

Yes. I missed them a little. While in Hyderabad I stayed at my grandparent’s house and my uncle (my father’s brother) also lives here. Whenever I had 10 days break between shoots I used to visit my mother and sister in US. Currently my father is taking care of my career management and me. I still visit my sister and mother once in a while. My grandparents, aunt and uncle take good care of me. In another few weeks time, my younger sister is coming here to Hyderabad to study her medicine.

Who inspires you in this film industry?

I have no one in particular. Stories inspire me. Story is the backbone for any film. If the story is interesting then I commit myself to it.

What is your ideal dream role?

I have no ideal role in particular but I like multiple personality character roles because it is a very challenging task. I like Vikram’s character in Aparachithudu and Brad Pitt & Edward Norton in Hollywood movie ‘Fight Club’.

What is your future plans?

Currently I am working in Gemini Kiran’s movie under Ananda Art Creations banner.

Your dressing style is same in movies and outside also. What can you say about this?

Thanks to my 3 directors (Mr. Sekhar Kammula, Srikanth Addala, Marthand K. Shankar) who made my looks good and natural in costumes. Out side of movies I wear clothes that make me comfortable.

What were the climatic differences observed between USA and India? Did this have any affect on you in the initial days of your career?

I did not really feel any difference. Before commencement of ‘Happy Days’ movie I participated in a 10-day workshop conducted by Mr. Sekhar Kammula. At Hyderabad, I stayed at my grandparents house. The whole shooting was done at Gandipet and at that time we stayed at Treasure Island Resort. In that excitement nothing really made me uncomfortable. Mr. Sekhar Kammula always reminded me of my character ‘Chandu’ stating that this is the lead role in this movie and so I enjoyed and played that character with much enthusiasm.

What advise you have to youth with regard to acid attacks on women, which are increasing day by day?

What people are doing is wrong. Attacking on human being is rubbish as every human being is Gods creation. I am against it.

What suggestions would you recommend to people who want to become a hero or an actor like you?

Directors are always looking for new faces and public is also looking for fresh faces. People, who are interested in making acting as a career, can enter into this industry but remember that education is very important. I just completed my 10 + 2 education, when entering into the films (i.e. Happy Days) I missed my happy college days, but I want to complete my education. You must also have Parents support for someone who wants to have success in films. Success comes through 100% sincerity & dedication towards your work you love.
